I have recently observed that both children and adults seem to have increasingly short attention spans, which I believe may be attributed to the excessive amount of time we spend using electronic screens. So, I have been searching for fun enjoyable art activities that can also help my nephew and me improve our focus during our playtime together. In this blog post, I will share with you a carefully chosen selection of 5 fun art activities to help improve kids (and adults if you will) focus.

1- Blind contour drawing
This is one of my favorite exercises of all time and I do it all the time as a warm-up, as a way to improve my hand-mind coordination, and I noticed that with my nephew, it also helped improve his focus.
To do this exercise, instruct kids to draw an object without looking at the paper, only looking at the object. This activity helps develop hand-eye coordination and concentration.
2- Drawing mazes
This second art activity does improve kids’ focus because it’s challenging enough for them to do a mental effort to both create and solve a problem. To do this activity, encourage kids to create their own maze designs on paper, then challenge them to solve each other’s mazes. This activity helps develop problem-solving skills and concentration.
3- Mandala Coloring
Provide kids with a mandala coloring book or print out some mandala designs for them to color. Focusing on intricate patterns and colors can be a calming and meditative experience that also helps improve concentration.
4- Clay modeling
Provide kids with clay and let them sculpt anything they want. This activity helps develop fine motor skills and concentration. You can either use Air Dry Clay to help them keep their sculptures and paint them or use the normal Magic modeling clay.

5- Zentangle art
Introduce kids to Zentangle art, which involves drawing repetitive patterns in small spaces. This is one of the art activities that help improve kids’ focus and attention to detail as well as being relaxing and meditative.
Conclusion
Remember, it’s important to let kids have fun with any art activities without worrying too much about the end result. The process is what matters most when it comes to improving kids’ focus and concentration.
