Do you ever reflect on your previous year? Every day is a great day for reflection, strategic thinking, and planning! But the new year just hit differently, right?

Happy 2023 to you creative people, and let’s make this year our best in terms of art and business.

In my Use my 2023 New Year’s Art Resolutions to make yours, I sat a resolution where I decided to treat art and creative endeavors as a job. And while looking for inspiration online, I gathered a set of questions that were suggested by Lisa Jacobs in her New Year for a New You: An Exercise for Reflection and Review that I took on Skillshare. You can use these questions to reflect on your 2022 in terms of art, business, and personal life as well as make 2023 your year.

Reflect on your previous year

The steps to do this ‘reflect on your previous year’ exercise are the following:

  • What did you appreciate the most about last year?
  • What do you need to review for the year to come?
  • Set intentions for these 6 aspects of your life
  • Move to dream big

Firstly, what did you appreciate the most about last year?

If you want to know what you appreciated the most, answer these questions:

  • What was time well spent?
  • What was money very well spent?
  • What are your favorite memories of the year?
  • What felt successful, as a whole?
  • Who nurtured & supported you most?
  • Who did you enjoy nurturing & supporting?

What do you need to review for the year to come?

  • What was time wasted?
  • What felt like wasted money?
  • Recall the biggest challenge you faced.
  • If anything, what would you change?
  • Do you have any unfinished business?
  • Are there any outstanding goals you’d like to let go of?

Set intentions for these 6 aspects of your life

  • Financial
  • Spiritual
  • Mental
  • Relational
  • Physical body
  • Physical environment

Lastly, move to dream big

  • What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
  • What’s something you’ve been too afraid to try?
  • How can you stretch your comfort zone?
  • What have you been struggling with for too long?
  • What will you delegate, automate, and stop doing?
  • In what ways and in what areas will you upgrade?

Conclusion

Take the time to think deeply about each and every question, note your answers, and keep these answers so you can see how you improved by the end of this year! Stay disciplined
