For this DIY, you’re gonna need:
- A mirror
- A mix of seashells (various sizes), starfish, donax shells, clam shells, moon shells, nassa shells, and tiny volute varieties. You can collect your own and buy them at a craft store or even online.
- Liquid nails construction adhesive
before using your adhesive and beginning to stick your decoration to the frame of the mirror, make sure you experiment around with different compositions. If you are working with a smooth framing surface like plastic or fake wood, use grainy paper to file the surface and give the adhesive some texture to stick into.
DIY mermaidcore phone case
As easy as it may sound, you’re gonna be needing:
- A phone case
- Some ocean-inspired charms and beads. These pastel ones are so gorgeous and I found them on Amazon. I would also recommend these.
- Liquid nails construction adhesive
Always remember to clean the phone case with rubbing alcohol first, then file the surface to give it some grip; Apply a thick layer of liquid nails adhesive and arrange your charms however you like, then wait for it to dry completely before using.
Mermaid core DIY shoulder bag
Using the same charms and adding some pearls, you can update your beach bags or any crochet or straw bag and achieve the mermaidcore aesthetic easily. These bags are so hot this summer and so mermaidcore aesthetic.

DIY mermaidcore hair clips
For these, you need to lay out your hair clips, and chains, as well as your seashells. Decide on your design before you start gluing. Then, you’re gonna apply a small amount of hot glue to the base of a seashell and press it onto the hair clip or the chain (as it shows in the pictures down). Hold it in place for a few seconds to ensure it adheres properly. Repeat with additional seashells, layering them if desired.
Using the hot glue gun, add pearls and gems around the seashells you can also glue small starfish, marine charms, or pieces of netting/lace for added texture. You can use tweezers to place smaller items accurately. Be creative with your placement to achieve a whimsical, ocean-inspired look.
Once all the elements are glued on and the glue has dried, apply a coat of clear nail polish or sealant to the entire clip. This helps protect your decorations and gives them a finished glossy look.
