I recently shared an article on how to make travel a cultural experience, and many people asked me on my TikTok about examples of cultural travel experiences that a traveler can book in their trip. In this article, I am going to share with you the top cultural travel experiences in Florence, Italy, that I have tried during my trip, so you can have an idea about the experiences to book.

A pro tip: make sure one of these events coincides with your trip for a better cultural experience.
Now let’s move on to the top 5 cultural travel experiences in Florence, Italy.
Discover the museums in Florence
I have previously shared an article fully dedicated to the art museums in Florence, as well as the masterpieces you shouldn’t miss; so make sure you check it out here: 6 Art Museums in Florence: The masterpieces you need to see.

Plan day trips from Florence
Getting to see more of a region makes your trip so much more valuable and offers you a wider look into the local culture and traditions. For that, check out this list of Florence day trips on TikTok.
I book my day trips and activities through the Get Your Guide app/website.
Attend a cooking class or a street food tour with a local guide
Food is, to me, the core of every cultural travel experience. Learning how to make a local dish and enjoying it with a group is one of the best experiences you can have. However, if you are not somebody who enjoys cooking, you can always grab yourself a street food tour with a guide who will help you get a taste of the different flavors and textures celebrated locally.
You can book this pasta/pizza-making class with Gelato at a beautiful Tuscan farm.
Or you can go on this Guided Food Walking Tour with Tuscan Classics.
Stay in the Centro Storico (historic center) or the Oltrarno district
Centro storico is the heart of Florence and the closest to the Duomo. I always make sure to stay there when I am in Florence because, as a solo traveler, it makes it very accessible to me to discover the area even late at night.
If you are somebody who would rather stay away from the crowds, the Oltrarno district is the neighborhood for you. It is on the opposite side of the centro storico, close to Boboli and Bardini gardens, Ponte Vecchio, and Piazzale Michelangelo.
Both districts are the best for tourists, depending on your vibe, in my opinion.
Volunteer or go on a cultural exchange in Florence
Volunteering is one of the best ways to turn a trip into a cultural experience. You get to have a host who is usually a local, and that helps you build a deeper connection to the place you’re at.
Some platforms where you can find volunteering experiences are:
- Worldpackers
- European Solidarity Corps (open for Europeans and youth from neighboring countries)
- AIESEC
Conclusion
In this article, I shared with you the top cultural travel experiences in Florence, Italy, that I have tried during my trips before. These were only examples that you can book yourself or use as inspiration for other similar activities, depending on your vibe.
