How do I find my passion? This is one of the most common questions I receive from my blog and from Pinterest followers! And I fully understand where it comes from… Somehow, we all go through a confusing phase in life where we think that if we figure out our passion or “life task”, all our problems will be magically solved 🙂
For this post, I put together a list of 11 questions to help you find your passion. I believe these would help you learn more about yourself and figure out what you’re most passionate about.
These 11 questions will help you find your passion:
1- As a child, what was your favorite thing to do?
List all the activities you loved and hobbies you had no matter how insignificant they might be.
Take this further, and list the things that you still love to do as a grown-up.
2- Between you and yourself only, what did you dream of doing when you grow up?
Children always have a job or occupation they like and what to do when they grow up. That changes as we grow because we either try to please our parents, society, and friends or just because we feel discouraged and unable to follow that goal.
As an adult, what was your goal or dream job as a child? And if you weren’t doing what you’re currently doing, or if money didn’t matter, what would you love to do?
3- Growing up, did you like being a leader? working alone? or been told what to do?
Maybe you were so great at working in smaller groups but felt overwhelmed in larger groups. Or maybe you loved leading in art projects but preferred being told what to do in science projects.
4- Would you rather work with your hands? mind/imagination? Or you’d rather work with your whole body?
Write how you feel about working these different ways.
5- What topics do you discuss with your circle?
Recall those topics that spark excitement in your heart and make you look forward to meeting your friends. Celebrity gossip and soccer games count too!
6- What’s one thing you do that makes you lose track of time?
Get to know yourself better and be mindful of your actions and passions.
7- Who do you follow on social media and envy the most?
Could be artists, models, real estate agents, or anyone really! Maybe you are secretly wishing to be doing what they are doing in life. Maybe this question will be a great shortcut to help you find your passion.
8- Put your fears aside, and assume that success is guaranteed. What would you do on your perfect day?
Pretty self-explanatory right? Just be as ambitious and dreamy as you can possibly be with this question.
9- If you were to introduce yourself the way you dream, what would you say?
“I’m Kim Kardashian West, I’m a mother, millionaire, law student, and billionaire”.
10- Do you like competition? Or does it make you feel pressured?
Write how you feel about competition, and the fields you like to compete in.
11- Ask yourself this question: What fuel can I draw from my failures?
How can I use the negative experiences in my life to drive me? What lessons can I take from my grief? What insights can I extract from my embarrassment? Face all those moments you avoid recalling and processing in your mind and make sure you free your mind from your previous experience in order to grow forward.
Conclusion
If you want my honest opinion, I believe that passions are created not found. So pick one thing you enjoy and are willing to keep doing or develop into a career and just get started.
