2025 is here, and I saw everyone sharing their predictions for the ins and outs of the year on different topics such as fashion, makeup, content creation, etc. I have my fair share of predictions for the art scene as well and I want to share my 2025 art ins and outs list with you. Let’s see if by the end of the year, we will be hitting or missing.

Let’s start with the “ins”:

Maximalism & Color Revival

I may have watched too much Tiktok lately, but I see a huge rejection of minimalism all over! People in 2025 are definitely gonna be choosing more vibrant, eclectic, and maximalist styles. And I mean, in every other area of life but especially art (fashion, interior design, painting, crafting, etc.). Personal styles in general will emerge, celebrating imperfections and bold color choices.

Handcrafted & Folk Art Resurgence

People are craving a sense of authenticity and personal style. In 2024, micro trends and the absence of personal style got people really questioning what’s going on, especially is arts and fashion. Therefore, I expect that handmade crafts, textile arts, and folk-inspired pieces will gain more appreciation.

AI-Augmented Art

Last year, I’ve seen some popular Moroccan artists push AI tools more and more into their artistic content (in a more personal and intentional way), blending traditional techniques with AI-generated elements. So I’m expecting to see more AI generated art in the artistic scene in 2025.

Sustainable & Up-cycled Art

Sustainability is so in. Eco-consciousness will continue to shape the art world, with more artists using recycled materials and exploring sustainability in their work.

Interactive & Experiential Installations

Art that engages the senses (touch, sound, movement) will grow, as people seek immersive experiences beyond static visuals. I have already seen this over a number of museums I visited in 2024 and I believe that the art world will continue going ahead in this same direction.

Cultural Heritage Revival

Got to be the 2025 art in that I’m hoping for at least. I’ve seen artists increasingly draw inspiration from their roots, revitalizing traditional techniques in a contemporary way and I really love it.

Neon and Digital Surrealism

I do not like it tbh. But bold neon aesthetics and dreamlike digital art will become even more prominent, especially on platforms like Instagram and Pinterest. It is already bombarding my Pinterest feed which I am not the biggest fan of but I see it coming in more and more.

Okay! so what are the “art outs” in 2025:

Overly Sterile Minimalism

Minimalism in art is so out. The era of plain beige walls and soulless interiors might be fading in favor of more personality-driven art (fingers crossed).

NFT Hype (Finally)

The NFT hype has lost its initial fire thank God. and while digital ownership will still exist of course, artists will perhaps be focusing more on long-term utility rather than quick profit.

Mass-Produced Wall Art

Not hating on any brand but cheap, factory-made decor (think IKEA prints, Temu wall art and AliExpress posters) is losing appeal (hopefully) as people seek unique and original pieces.

Flat AI-Generated Art with No Human Touch

I’m almost pleading here, please the AI generated art that looks so freaking fake die!!!! AI is evolving, but we are sick and tired of generic, soulless AI-generated images. Especially for content creation. The creators using AI to generate food images for recipes they are posting online pmo so much. I am all for hybrid approaches (AI + human creativity), but the flat AI art should go out.

Strict Medium Boundaries

If more people mastered the courage to keep on trying new mediums and not stick to the idea that a painter should only paint or a sculptor should only sculpt, our collective personal expression is gonna be as impressive as the Italian renaissance. So for 2025, I believe that strict medium boundaries should be OUT.

Super-Polished Instagram Aesthetics

Bye bye fake, overly curated, perfect-feed aesthetics. Let’s make way for more raw, in-the-moment creative expression with less pressure on artists to be also perfect influences.

    Final thoughts

Yeah! that was my list of ins and outs for the year of 2025 but what do I know? I could be completely wrong and get the ins and outs mixed together. So take my words with a grain of salt and enjoy creating <3
